The Architectural Review Board
If you’re wondering what our neighborhood guidelines and rules are for modifying the outside of your property in a way that will change it's appearance (fences, additions, structural changes, etc.), please consult our
covenants and
architectural standards. NOTE: you do not need to submit an ARB request if you are replacing something on your home with the same or very similar products. Replacing siding with the same type and color, replacing windows with same style, repairing a fence using same style of previous fence are examples of cases where you do NOT need to submit an ARB request. Changing the color scheme of your home, adding a fence, adding a deck, adding an addition, re-roofing your home with different materials or color are examples where you DO need to submit an ARB request.
When you’re ready to submit a change, please download the
Application for Improvement form, fill it out and obtain the appropriate signatures, scan or take a picture of it if you are able. Next, S
ubmit an ARB Change Request form using the
Request Manager. Please attach the scan or picture of the
Application form to the Request ticket. You can also mail the form to the following address or email it to arb@southporthoa.com.

Getting Ready to Sell your Home
We will be sorry to see you go. You will need to request a Resale Certificate from the homeowners association. This is a required document to provide to the potential buyer. ONLY the homeowner can request this certificate and it does cost $175. This covers the cost to produce the detailed document from homeowner association records. Please request the resale certificate early in your sale process as it does take a while for our volunteer staff to perform an exterior inspection and consolidate the necessary documentation. To request a Resale Certificate, use our
Request Manager system.
Fairfax County Construction Codes and Permitting Information
Any construction project must be in compliance with County and State codes and obtain the necessary permitting. This is separate from the community approval associated with our homeowners association. It also impacts internal home modifications. Please visit the following

Fairfax County Resource Protection Area Information
Several homes in our community, that share a border to the common area along the stream, have some or all of their property within the boundary of a Resource Protection Area. This is county protected area that has restrictions on what can and can not be done to the property. Please enter your street address in the following interactive map,

Fairfax County - Braddock District Resources
The Southport community resides within the Braddock District of Fairfax County. Our current Board of Supervisors representative is Rachna Sizemore Heizer. Please visit the
Braddock District web page for helpful information about projects impacting our community. You may also reach out to the Supervisor's office for any constituent services you may require. The Supervisor puts out weekly and monthly email newsletters to keep the community appraised of activity. These are worthwhile subscriptions. Check out the
